Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 5, 2026  ·  Effective date: March 5, 2026

The short version: Random Decision is designed with privacy first. All your decisions, wheels, and history are stored locally on your device and never uploaded to our servers. We show ads via Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers if you grant tracking permission. We do not sell your personal data.

AppStudio ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Random Decision mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to operate the App. Here is a complete breakdown:

Category What is collected How it's used Stored where
Decision data Wheels, options, results, history you create App functionality only Your device only
Contacts Contact names (read-only, only when you use the Random Contact feature) Display randomly selected contact Your device only — never transmitted
Advertising ID (IDFA) Device advertising identifier — only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission Personalized advertising via Google AdMob Google's servers
Ad interaction data Ad impressions, clicks, general device info (IP address, device type, OS version) Ad delivery and fraud prevention by Google AdMob Google's servers
Purchase data Subscription status (Pro/Free) Unlocking Pro features Apple's servers (we never see payment details)

We do not collect: your name, email address, location, photos, microphone input, browsing history, or any data unrelated to the App's functionality.

2. AI-Powered Option Generation

The App includes an optional AI Generate feature that automatically suggests decision options based on a topic you enter. This feature is powered by third-party AI language model APIs.

What is sent to the AI service:

What is NOT sent: your name, device identifiers, location, previous decisions, or any data from other features of the App.

Which AI service is used depends on your device's region settings:

AI-generated results are processed and displayed locally on your device. We do not store or log the content of your AI requests on our own servers. However, the AI service providers may retain request data subject to their own privacy policies and data retention practices.

Use of the AI Generate feature is entirely optional. If you prefer not to send data to these services, simply do not use the AI Generate feature — all other app functions work without any AI API calls.

4. Contacts Permission

The App requests access to your Contacts only to power the Random Contact feature, which selects a contact at random from your address book. Specifically:

5. Advertising & App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

The App is free to download and is supported by advertising provided by Google AdMob (Google LLC). When you first launch the App, you will see Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asking whether the App may track your activity across other companies' apps and websites.

You can change your tracking preference at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Google AdMob may collect the following data regardless of your ATT choice: IP address, device type, OS version, app version, and general location (country/region) for ad delivery and fraud prevention. Google AdMob's data practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

The App uses SKAdNetwork, Apple's privacy-preserving ad attribution framework, which allows measurement of ad campaign effectiveness without identifying individual users.

6. Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party SDKs and services:

Service Provider Purpose Privacy Policy
Google AdMob Google LLC In-app advertising policies.google.com/privacy
Firebase Google LLC App infrastructure firebase.google.com/support/privacy
Apple App Store / StoreKit Apple Inc. In-app purchases & subscriptions apple.com/legal/privacy

Lottie Airbnb / LottieFiles Animations (no data collection) N/A — offline only

These services operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them. We only work with services that have appropriate data protection measures in place.

7. In-App Purchases

The App offers optional Pro subscriptions to remove ads and unlock all features. All transactions are processed exclusively by Apple through the App Store. We receive only a notification confirming whether your subscription is active — we never receive, store, or process your payment information or Apple ID details.

Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Manage or cancel your subscription in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions.

8. Data Storage & Security

All data you create within the App — decisions, wheel configurations, result history — is stored exclusively on your device using iOS local storage. This data is:

We do not operate any servers that store your personal decision data. We have no ability to access, recover, or delete it on your behalf.

9. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

California residents: Under the CCPA, we do not sell personal information to third parties. Google AdMob's use of your advertising data is governed by Google's privacy terms.

EU/EEA residents: We rely on legitimate interests (ad-supported free app model) as the legal basis for processing advertising data. You have the right to object at any time by declining the ATT prompt.

To exercise any rights, contact us at andychung.cc@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us immediately at andychung.cc@gmail.com and we will take prompt action to remove that information.

11. Data Retention

Since all decision data lives on your device, you control how long it is retained. Uninstalling the App removes it permanently.

For advertising data collected by Google AdMob, retention is governed by Google's data retention policies, typically up to 26 months for analytics purposes.

12. International Transfers

The App is operated from China. If you are located outside China, note that Google AdMob may transfer your advertising data to servers in the United States or other countries. Google complies with applicable data transfer frameworks (including EU Standard Contractual Clauses).

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when we add new features, integrate new services, or when laws require it. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
